The Olympic champion was present to cheer India during the final against Australia.

India’s star athlete and Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra congratulated the Indian cricket team for putting up a great show at the recently concluded ICC World Cup. The Olympic champion was present in Ahmedabad to witness the final between India and Australia.

Neeraj in his social media platform X (formerly Twitter) iterated, “Team India, you made us proud. Hard luck in the final. It wasn’t our night, but a tournament that we’ll never forget.”

India dominated each of their league matches, including the highly anticipated semi-final clash against New Zealand, ultimately securing their spot in the World Cup final. Meanwhile, arch-rivals Australia secured their place in the final by triumphing over South Africa in a gripping semi-final encounter on the other side of the bracket.

In the final match, after winning the toss, Australia chose to field first and successfully limited India to a score of 240. KL Rahul emerged as India’s top scorer with 66 runs, while Virat Kohli also made a significant contribution with a half-century. Although India momentarily troubled Australia with some early wickets, a formidable partnership between Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne shifted the game’s momentum decisively in Australia’s favor.

Travis Head claimed the Man of the Match title for his outstanding innings of 137 runs, while Virat Kohli was honored as the Man of the Tournament for his exceptional performance, amassing 765 runs with an impressive average of 95.62.

What’s next for Neeraj?

Neeraj Chopra has emerged as a beacon of inspiration for athletes in India, consistently delivering stunning performances. Despite enduring an injury setback that sidelined him for a period, he staged a triumphant comeback, culminating in a gold medal victory at the World Athletics Championships and Asian Games.

The upcoming pinnacle for Neeraj is the Paris Olympics 2024. He aims to defend his title in javelin throw and further enrich his collection of medals by securing yet another gold.
