India at Sudirman Cup 2023: Updated squad, schedule, telecast & results
India's best results in the tournament came in 2011 and 2017 when they made the quarter-finals.
The Sudirman Cup 2023 is a mixed-team tournament that consists of five ties (MS, WS, MD, WD, XD). The team Championship is named after the Indonesian player Dick Sudirman and is held biennially.
India have never won a medal at the Sudirman Cup. Their best results came in 2011 and 2017 when they reached the Quarter-finals but lost to China 0-3, 1-3 respectively. However, this time Indian team is looking strong, Their biggest strength is their Men’s Doubles pair of Satwik/Chirag, who are in red-hot form.
They reclaimed the WR 5 earlier this month on the back of a successful Badminton Asia Championships campaign that saw them become the first Indian doubles pair to win gold medal in the tournament. Satwik/Chirag will play a huge role if India are to succeed in the Sudirman Cup.
Apart from the men's doubles, India also have good men’s singles and women’s singles shuttlers in the form of HS Prannoy, Kidambi Srikanth and PV Sindhu. The Veterans will use their experience in the team events and will look to end the medal drought this time.
