Malaysia last won a title eight years ago and would like to end the title drought this time. The last time the East Asian side won a title at the China Open was way back in 2015, when Lee Chong Wei clinched the men's singles title. The other three players to win the China Open titles are Wong Mew Chew (women's singles), Wong Choong Hann (men's singles) and Jalani Sidek/Razif Sidek (men's doubles).
This time all eyes will be on former world champions Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik who are looking for their first World Tour title this season. In the 2019 edition, Malaysia had a sub-par outing, as only two pairs managed to reach the quarterfinals.
