Commonwealth Games 2026 Day 7 Results: Lovepreet Singh clinches silver, Seema wins bronze in discus throw

India won two medals on Day 7, taking its total tally to 17 medals.

India picked up one silver and one bronze on Day 7 of the Commonwealth Games 2026. The country currently stands at No. 8 on the medal tally.

Lovepreet Singh won India’s eighth weightlifting medal by shattering the Games record in a snatch to eventually claim silver. In a thrilling battle, the Indian showed remarkable poise and determination under pressure.

Late on Day 7, Seema Kaliramna clinched India’s fourth medal in athletics at the Glasgow Games, winning bronze with a superb effort of 58.65m.

India’s leading gold medal hope, Neeraj Chopra, qualified for the javelin throw final alongside Rohit Yadav and Yash Vir Singh.

India’s lawn bowls men’s duo registered their third consecutive win in their group to remain the only unbeaten team alongside England.

While today was a relatively slow day for the nation, Day 8 will be an important one for the country as several boxers will aim to qualify for the gold medal match.

Athletics

• Neeraj Chopra, Rohit Yadav, and Yash Vir Singh qualified for the Men’s Javelin Throw Final – Report
• Tejaswin Shankar finished seventh overall in the Men’s Decathlon 100m with a time of 10.96s, earning 870 points.
• Tejaswin Shankar topped the Men’s Decathlon Long Jump standings with a best leap of 7.82 m, earning 1,015 points and climbing to third overall with 1,885 points.
• Tejaswin Shankar finished seventh in the Men’s Decathlon Shot Put with a best throw of 13.09 m, taking his tally to 2,558 points and moving into fourth overall.
• Tejaswin Shankar topped the Men’s Decathlon High Jump after clearing 2.15 m, earning 944 points to climb into second overall with 3,502 points.
• Tejaswin Shankar ended Day 1 of the Men’s Decathlon in second place overall with 4,339 points after clocking 49.51s in the 400m.
• Praveen Chithravel and Selva Prabhu qualified for the Men’s Triple Jump Final.
• Vishal TK finished sixth in the Men’s 400m semi-final with a time of 46.33s.
• Animesh Kujur finished sixth in the Men’s 200m semi-final with a time of 20.65s, failing to qualify for the final – Report
• Seema won the bronze medal in the Women’s Discus Throw Final with a best throw of 58.65m – Report
• Nidhi Rani finished fourth in the Women’s Discus Throw Final with a best throw of 57.10 m, narrowly missing out on a medal.
• Tajinderpal Singh Toor finished fifth in the Men’s Shot Put Final with a best throw of 20.27 m.
• Samardeep Singh Gill finished seventh in the Men’s Shot Put Final with a best throw of 20.03 m.
• Parul Chaudhary finished 13th in the Women’s 5000m Final with a time of 15:08.56.

Weightlifting

• Lovepreet Singh won the silver medal in the Men’s 110+ kg weightlifting final with a total lift of 388 kg – Report
• Martina Devi Maibam finished fifth in the Women’s 86+ kg weightlifting final with a total lift of 245 kg.

Cycling

• Ronaldo Singh Laitonjam, David Beckham Elkatohchoong, and Rojit Singh Yanglem finished 7th in the Men’s Team Sprint Qualifying Round with a time of 46.396 s, failing to qualify for the medal rounds.

Para Cycling

• Lisha Das finished sixth in the Women’s C4-C5 4000m Individual Pursuit Qualifying with a time of 6:58.000, missing out on a place in the medal races.

Lawn Bowls

• Dinesh Kumar and Navneet Singh beat Botswana by 2-1 in Men’s Pairs Sectional Play.
• Nayanmoni Saikia lost to Emma Firyana Saroji (Malaysia) by 0.5-1.5 in Women’s Singles Sectional Play.
