India’s campaign at the Commonwealth Games 2026 is drawing to a close, with the event concluding on Sunday, August 2. The country is currently sitting sixth in the medal table with 30 medals so far, including eight gold, 15 silver and seven bronze, with a chance to add more to this tally.
As the curtains come down on the 23rd Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, the attention has shifted to the next edition of the tournament in four years’ time.

The 2030 Commonwealth Games, which will be the centenary edition of the multisport event, will take place in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad, marking the second CWG edition hosted by India and the third to be hosted in Asia.
India had hosted only one CWG edition before – the New Delhi 2010 Games – which proved to be the country’s most fruitful outing, having won 101 medals. As a result, the country pushed hard to win the bid for the 24th CWG, securing the hosting rights at the Commonwealth Sport Annual General Assembly in Glasgow in November 2025.

Where in Gujarat will the next Commonwealth Games take place?
The 24th Commonwealth Games in 2030 will take place in Ahmedabad in the Indian state of Gujarat. Several venues have been announced for the event, with the main ceremonies taking place at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave will host most of the events, taking place at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the Indoor Arena, and the Aquatics Center.
The Karai Police Academy Sports Hub in Gandhinagar will be used for the athletics events. Two other venues in the city will also be used – the IIT Gandhinagar ground and the Mahatma Mandir.
The exact events taking place at each venue will be revealed later, once the sports have been finalised.
According to the Sport Programme Review, the following sports are confirmed for the Amdavad 2030: athletics and para athletics, swimming and para swimming, table tennis and para table tennis, bowls and para bowls, weightlifting and para powerlifting, artistic gymnastics, netball, and boxing.
Several other sports are under consideration, including: archery, badminton, 3×3 basketball and 3×3 wheelchair basketball, beach volleyball, T20 cricket, cycling, diving, hockey, judo, rhythmic gymnastics, rugby sevens, shooting, squash, triathlon and para triathlon, and wrestling.
In total, 15-17 sports are expected to be part of the programme, with all 74 Commonwealth countries expected to participate.
