Australia will play against South Africa and India in a bilateral series to prepare for World Cup.

The five-time World Champions, Australia, will be playing their opening game against host India at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai on October 8. The Australians have a great plan for their World Cup preparation, as they will be taking on India before the tournament. They will play a short three-match ODI series against the hosts from September 22 to September 27. Just after a day’s gap, the men in yellow will step onto the field again in their opening warm-up fixture against the Netherlands. All 10 qualified World Cup teams are scheduled to play two warm-up games before entering the main event.

Australia’s World Cup Warm-up games:

Australia will play their first warm-up game against the Dutch side on September 29 at Greenfield Stadium in Trivandrum. This will be just a day after their encounter against India at Saurashtra Cricket Stadium in Rajkot. Australia’s second warm-up game is a big one for them and will set the tone for their campaign in the World Cup. They will take on Pakistan on October 3 at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. This game will set the tone for both teams before entering the mega event. All these warm-up games will be played as a day-night fixture and will start at 2 p.m.

Fans can book their tickets from August 25 onwards for the warm-up matches and all the main event games except India. Australia has won the tournament the most times. They have been crowned champions five times in their history. Australia’s first World Cup win came on the sub-continent when they defeated England in the final in 1987 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Allan Border became the first Australian captain to lift the World Cup title. After that, Steve Waugh won in 1999, Ricky Ponting won in 2003 and 2007,  and then Michael Clarke won the championship in 2015 in Melbourne.
