"Tough and…": Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant describes year 2023
Rishabh Pant hasn’t played any cricket for India since December 2022.
Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant has been making huge strides towards full fitness at the NCA and feels that the year 2023 has been a tough and learning one for him.
Notably, the wicket-keeper-batter was involved in a near-fatal car accident in December last year and spent the first few months of 2023 in hospital undergoing various surgeries, some for the injuries and burns he sustained in a car fire and one for his knee issue.
He rehabbed and recovered at home and then arrived at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for further treatment and recovery procedures. Since then, Pant has made amazing progress as he first ditched his crutch and began walking normally. He also began light batting practice in nets in NCA and played in a friendly game on Independence game this year.
He has been doing wicket-keeping drills and strengthening his knees. In good news for his fans, Delhi Capitals’ director of cricket Sourav Ganguly confirmed that Rishabh Pant will make his cricketing return in the IPL 2024 next year.
Rishabh Pant describes year 2023
He was recently seen visiting Jadavpur University’s second Campus Cricket Association of Bengal ground where DC had set up a training camp for their players ahead of the IPL 2024. Rishabh Pant looked comfortable as he took a walk around the ground in visuals from the training camp in Kolkata.
Despite these setbacks, Pant’s spirit remained unwavering in his determination to heal from his injuries and return to the field. He referred to his injury as his “second birth,” and he kept his admirers up to date on his rehabilitation via social media.
Recently, he described his year as a tough one and a learning process on social media. In one of his posts on twitter (Now X), Pant described his year as, “Tough & lot’s of learning.”
