Edgbaston test definitely my favourite game of all-time: Usman Khawaja

Usman Khawaja was adjudged "Man of the Match" for his 141 and 65 in two innings of the Edgbaston test.

England and Australia produced the best test of the year and one for the ages. The match ended in Australia's favor but England dominated most of the game. In the end, it was Pat Cummins and his men that held the nerve and pulled off a miraculous chase to win by two wickets. The hero of the game was Usman Khawaja who ended up winning the "Man of the Match" for his fighting knocks in both innings of the game.

Needing 54 more runs to win, the visitors had only two wickets left in the last session on Day 5. But Cummins (44) added an unbeaten 55-run partnership for the 8th wicket with Nathan Lyon (16) to win it for Australia. With this win, the visitors have taken a 1-0 lead in the ongoing five-match Ashes series.

"One of my favourite Tests"- Usman Khawaja after Australia's thrilling win over England at Edgbaston

The game came very close and England had some half-chances which they couldn't hold on. Cummins and Lyon both were dropped, which became the difference in the end for the hosts. There were some brilliant individual performances from both teams. Cummins had a brilliant game with both bat and the ball, same as Oille Robinson. But the stand-out performer was Oz opener Usman Khawaja, who scored a fighting century in the first innings.

Usman Khawaja made 141 off 321 balls, with 14 fours and three sixes when wickets fell from the other hand. His century helped Australia reach 386 in the first innings. Then, the southpaw followed it up with another master-class innings of 65 in a tricky chase. After the game, Khawaja admitted that it was the best game he has been part of in his entire career. He also spoke about how Ian Botham and Andrew Flintoff demolished Australia in 1981 and 2005 Ashes in England and Ben Stokes' miraculous hundred in Headingley which broke Australia's heart.

Usman Khawaja said, "It's so heart-wrenching. An unbelievable game. I watched 2005, stayed up late. We had Stokesy play an unbelievable innings last Ashes, but this is definitely one of my favourite Test matches. It's right up there, an Ashes, I've had some hard times here. The ebb and flow, no one had the game until the end. One of my favourite Tests."

He also pointed out that below-par performance he had last few England's tour that Australia had, but now it will give the team a great confidence to start with. He concluded, "Tough work [on previous] tours but nice to get off to a good start on this one. Four more Ashes Tests left."
