[Watch] Indian Cricket Team reaches New York ahead of ICC T20 World Cup 2024

Indian Cricket Team will play warm-up match against Bangladesh in New York on June 1.

The first batch of Indian cricketers who left for the United States of America on May 25 have reached New York ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The marquee tournament will be jointly hosted by the West Indies and the USA in the month of June.

Skipper Rohit Sharma, along with head coach Rahul Dravid, batting coach Vikarm Rathour, and few Men in Blue players, departed from Mumbai in the late evening on Saturday. Notably, star batter Virat Kohli, who was supposed to fly with the first batch, has not re-grouped with the squad yet.

According to the latest report, the 35-year-old Kohli has extended his period of break after Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s exit from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 playoffs. The report further added that Kohli might fly out to New York in the early morning of May 30th.

The Men in Blue are all set to take on Bangladesh in their only warm-up fixture on June 1 ahead of the global tournament. It is understood that Kohli may miss the warm-up game.

Rohit-led side will begin their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign on June 5 against Ireland. The much-awaited India vs Pakistan match will be played on June 9. Then Men in Blue will play co-hosts USA on June 12 and the final league stage match against Canada on June 15.

Touchdown New York: First batch arrives ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to their official social media handle, ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), where they shared video of the first batch of Men in Blue players who have reached the United States for the upcoming ICC tournament. In the video, cricketers were seen leaving the New York airport and boarding the team bus.

“Touchdown New York! #TeamIndia have arrived for the #T20WorldCup,” BCCI wrote on X.
