Few fast bowlers in the world could be as deadly as Mitchell Starc. On his day, Starc wins games on his own for his side.

He is a two-time ODI World Cup winner, one-time T20 World Cup winner, and one-time ICC World Test Championship winner. He bagged his maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title in IPL 2024, helping Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) win their third trophy.

Throughout his career, the left-arm pacer has stepped up on big occasions. Be it the bowling Brendon McCullum in the first over of the 2015 World Cup final to toppling the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) openers in the IPL 2024 playoffs where he bagged two consecutive Man of the Match awards.

With 681 international wickets, the left-arm pacer has propelled himself into the list of the elite bowlers, being the fourth-highest wicket-taker for his country.

Mitchell Starc sold to Delhi Capitals for INR 11.75 crore

Delhi Capitals managed to buy Mitchell Starc for INR 11.75 crore in the mega auction.

MI and KKR slug it out early on for Starc. At 6.5 crore MI move out and in comes DC. KKR wanted to get back Starc but budget restricted them and they moved out at 10 crore.

DC got some competition from RCB, for whom Starc had played before, but eventually DC secured Starc for a price that is less than half of what Starc was bought for in the last auction, which was INR 24.75 crore.

Mitchell Starc previously in the IPL

Due to injuries, rest, and workload management, Starc has stayed away from the IPL for most of his professional career. But when’s played in the competition, he’s breathed fire.

Starc has played three IPL seasons so far: 2014 and 2015 for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and 2024 for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

For RCB, he took 34 wickets in two seasons, and for KKR he snared 17 wickets in IPL 2024. KKR had bought him for a price of INR 24.75 crore in the auction, making him the most expensive player in IPL history.

The lanky Australian speedster repaid their faith by producing match-winning spells in the Qualifier 1 and the final. Yet, Starc was not retained by KKR ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
