IPL 2025: "I don't know…" Is MS Dhoni playing his last game tonight? CSK skipper drops massive bombshell ahead of CSK vs PBKS clash

MS Dhoni has taken over as CSK captain in IPL 2025 after Ruturaj Gaikwad’s ouster.
MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are clashing with Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the match No. 49 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Wednesday, April 30. The CSK vs PBKS is currently underway at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Notably, it’s a do-or-die game for the Men in Yellow for the race to the playoffs. The Super Kings need to win all of their remaining five matches in a bid to reach the playoffs.
Talking about the game, PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to bowl first. While PBKS made a few changes in their lineup, CSK have kept the same team as the last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), which they lost by five wickets at home.
Notably, CSK lost against PBKS when both came across each other earlier in the ongoing tournament.
Don’t even know if I am returning for the next game: MS Dhoni
During the CSK vs PBKS toss, Dhoni and Shreyas Iyer had a chat with commentator Danny Morrison. The home crowd cheered for the CSK skipper as he walked for the toss.
At toss, when there was a huge cheer for MS Dhoni, commentator Danny Morrison went near him and asked, “Does this mean you’re returning next season as well?” To which, Dhoni replied, “I don’t even know if I am returning for the next game.” Dhoni was also seen laughing as he said it to Danny.
Have a look at the video of the entire moment below.
The possible reason behind MS Dhoni’s statement is this is CSK’s second-last home game of the season and if they lose this game, they will be out of contention for the playoffs this season. Dhoni is known for taking surprising calls when it comes to his retirement from the game.
Meanwhile, CSK are the worst performers in IPL 2025. The Men in Yellow have won just two games and lost seven out of nine they’ve played so far. They have four points in their kitty and languish at bottom of the points table.
Notably, Ruturaj Gaikwad was the captain of the side in IPL 2025 and also led the team in the first five games. However, he was then ruled out due to an elbow injury, and Dhoni took the reins of the side. The wicket-keeper batter was retained under “Uncapped Player” category by CSK ahead of the mega auction.
