KL Rahul made his India debut in 2014.

KL Rahul, who is only 60 runs away from hitting the important milestone of 9,000 international runs, will be the centre of attention as the Indian Cricket Team prepares for the fourth test match of the five-match series against the England Cricket Team in Manchester.

KL Rahul’s performance will be critical if India hopes to tie the five-match series, now behind 2-1, after playing a possibly career-defining series thus far.

India will require a great start at the top to defeat a formidable and tenacious English team, and KL Rahul will be expected to take on that duty. In addition to handling the new ball calmly, the opener needs to strike a balance between his signature fluidity, particularly his graceful cover drives, and more methodical shot selection and patience at the wicket.

In 218 games and 254 innings across all formats, Rahul has amassed 8,940 runs, including 58 half-centuries and 19 hundreds. He is presently the 16th-greatest run scorer in Indian history, with his top individual score still standing at 199.

KL Rahul has excellent technique and beautiful strokeplay, but his test numbers are quite low. Rahul has amassed 3,632 runs at 35.26 in 61 test matches, with ten hundreds and 18 fifties.

Rahul has been more reliable in ODIs, amassing 3,043 runs at a remarkable average of 49.08 and a strike rate of 88.17 in 85 games. Seven hundred and eighteen fifties are included in this.

He is fourth among India’s all-time T20I scorers with 2,265 runs in 72 games at an average of 37.75 and an incredible strike rate of around 140, including two hundreds and 22 fifties. However, selectors have chosen a younger, more aggressive approach; hence, he has not been part of India’s T20 lineup since the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.

But Rahul has returned to form in this current English series. In three test matches and six innings, he has amassed 375 runs at an average of 62.50, with two hundreds, a fifty, and a high score of 137. With this performance, he now has four hundreds and two fifties in England, with an average of 41.20 from 12 test matches.

Rahul is in a strong position to make this his most successful test series to date, maybe surpassing his best from the 2016–17 home series against Australia, in which he amassed 393 runs in four tests. He has two games remaining.
