"Where there is a 'Will' there is a way" Twitter erupts as Will Jacks 41-ball ton, guides RCB to win over GT

Will Jacks’ 41-ball 100 helped RCB win the match by nine wickets against GT in the IPL 2024.

In match No. 45 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Will Jacks displayed a stunning batting performance against last year’s runners-up Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on April 28.

After being asked to bat first, Gujarat put up brilliant batting display as they hammered 200/3 in 20 overs. Sai Sudharsan was their highest run-getter as he smashed an unbeaten 49-ball 84. Shahrukh Khan (58) and David Miller (26*) also contributed to the Titans’ total.

While chasing 201, the visitors lost their skipper Faf du Plessis (24) in the fourth over. Bengaluru needed a desperate partnership. Virat Kohli and Will Jacks started to play counter-attacking cricket against a good GT bowling line-up after the wicket of du Plessis. In the 10th over, Kohli reached his half-century.

During the 15th over of Gujarat’s ace pacer Mohit Sharma, RCB batter Jacks unleashed his beast mode and hammered 29 runs, which also helped him reach his half century.

In the 16th over, Jacks dismantled the Titans’ leg-spinner Rashid Khan. The Bengaluru batter smashed 28 runs against him as he reached his maiden IPL century in just 41 deliveries. He along with Kohli stitched a match-winning partnership of 166 runs on just 74 balls.

During his unbeaten innings, Jacks smashed five boundaries and 10 maximums with an explosive strike rate of over 240. While Kohli remained not out on 70 runs.

One of the best parts of Jack’s innings was that he hammered sixes for fun, and GT had no clue against him. Jacks scored 83 runs off his last 24 balls as RCB reached home with four overs left and they also won the match by nine wickets.

Notably, Jacks was on 37 when Kohli was at 69, and at the end of the innings, Jacks reached his maiden ton and Kohli ended up with 70 runs in his innings. Following Jacks’ sensational knock, cricketing fraternity went crazy praising Jacks and Kohli for their partnership leading RCB to a win over GT.
