Suryakumar Yadav has been in rotten form in the year 2023 and recently achieved the unwanted record of three consecutive golden ducks in ODIs.

Suryakumar Yadav’s poor run of form continued as he got out on a golden duck for Mumbai Indians (MI) in their recent IPL 2023 match against Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 11, 2023, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals both came into this match to earn their first win of the IPL 2023 as they had lost all the matches they have played thus far in the tournament. Rohit Sharma started off well by winning the toss and chose to chase.

Batting first, DC opener Prithvi Shaw looked good, but got out for 15 runs, while Manish Pandey made 26 runs with 5 fours in 18 balls. But then MI spinner Piyush Chawla showed his magic as the leggie removed Pandey, Rovman Powell (4) and Lalit Yadav (2), while Riley Meredith got rid of debutant Yash Dhull for 2 runs.

Then DC vice-captain Axar Patel joined captain David Warner and both pushed DC towards a good total as Warner made 51 in 47 balls, while Axar blazed to his maiden IPL fifty scoring 54 in 25 balls with 5 sixes and 4 fours.

One of those sixes even hit Suryakumar Yadav on his forehead, making him leave the field during the closing overs of the DC innings. In the end, the Capitals finished for 172 in 19.4 overs. Apart from Piyush Chawla’s 3/22, Jason Behrendorff took 3/23.

Suryakumar Yadav gets out for first ball duck off Mukesh Kumar; Netizens go berserk on Twitter

Mumbai started off well as Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan (31) gave a solid start of 71 runs in 7.3 overs before Kishan was run out due to a misunderstanding. Then Tilak Varma made 41 in 29 and looked like getting MI home on his own with Rohit guiding him.

But in the 16th over, despite getting hit for two sixes and one four by Tilak, Mukesh Kumar dismissed him on the 5th ball and one the very next ball, had Suryakumar Yadav caught at fine leg by Kuldeep Yadav for a duck.

Yadav played his patent flick off the hip and the ball sailed straight into the hands of the fielder, resulting in Yadav walking back to the pavilion with his head down and cursing his luck.

Twitterverse was also unhappy with what was happening to Suryakumar and shared their frustrations on Twitter.
