Virat Kohli breaks Sachin Tendulkar's record of scoring 1000+ ODI runs in a calendar year most times

Virat has overtaken Sachin Tendulkar for another batting record. Virat Kohli has completed 1000 ODI runs in the year 2023 and has now scored 1000+ ODI runs in a calendar year eight times.

Sachin Tendulkar scored 1000 ODI runs in a calendar year seven times in his career. Both of these batters have earned praise for the consistency they show in the limited-overs format. Sachin scored 1000+ ODI runs in 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2003 and 2007, while Virat scored in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2023. Virat Kohli had a few quiet years during the COVID times, and the team also didn’t play as many ODIs as they did before the 2019 World Cup.

This is also the world record for most runs scored in ODI format in a calendar year by any batter in the world.
