Wasim Jaffer hailed Sri Lanka for playing better cricket against India in the ODI series.

Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer has reflected on Team India’s “biggest concern” ahead of the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is scheduled to be played in Pakistan.

Earlier this week, the Indian cricket team were outclassed by the injury-hit Sri Lankan side in a three-match ODI series in Colombo.

Hosts Sri Lanka won the ODI series 2-0. This was their first ODI bilateral series win against the Men in Blue in nearly three decades. During the whole series, the Indian batters barring Rohit Sharma, were clueless against the quality spin attack of the hosts on the spin-friendly pitch in Colombo.

The Men in Blue lost 27 wickets out of 30 to spinners, which is the most by any side in a bilateral ODI series (maximum of three games). Earlier, the Indian cricket team whitewashed Sri Lanka in the T20I series 3-0.

Just three ODIs before the Champions Trophy 2025: Wasim Jaffer

The Indian cricket team will enter the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 as one of the favourites, given their strong show in white-ball cricket in the last two ICC tournaments.

However, Team India will face the problem of going into the marquee tournament underprepared. This is because India now have only one ODI series left before the Champions Trophy 2025.

The Indian side will host England for a three-match ODI series from February 6 to 12.

Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer raised concerns about India’s preparations for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025.

Jaffer expressed that Men in Blue have only three ODIs to play before playing the prestigious tournament in February. Jaffer also credited Sri Lanka for playing better cricket in the series against India.

Jaffer tweeted, “SL played better cricket and deserve the series win. It doesn’t worry me that India lost a series. Wins and losses are part of the game. However it’s a point of concern that India has just 3 ODIs before the Champions Trophy.”
