Himanshu Sangwan knocked over Virat Kohli’s off-stump during the Delhi vs Railways Ranji Trophy match.
The joy of the fans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Friday was short-lived as the man they had come to watch, Virat Kohli, was dismissed for only six runs off 15 balls during Delhi’s Ranji Trophy encounter against Railways.
Fans had started to flock to the Arun Jaitley Stadium since 5 am in the morning to see Kohli in action as the Indian superstar returned to Ranji Trophy after over 12 years.
Kohli came in to bat at No. 4 to a huge reception from the crowd. However, his innings was cut short sooner than expected. He was beaten twice in his first 10 balls by pacer Kunal Yadav.
He broke his shackles by smacking seamer Himanshu Sangwan down the ground for a boundary. However, on the very next delivery, Sangwan removed Kohli with a ball that pitches on the good length outside the off-stump, drawing Kohli into an expansive drive.
The ball seamed in sharply off the pitch and went through the huge bat-pad gap that Kohli had left and rattled into the off-stump, sending it cartwheeling. The crowd was silenced as Sangwan roared in his celebration.
