The stadium is getting renovated

According to reports, Barcelona are planning to use Camp Nou grass from the pitch to create a variety of sparkling gems.

The historic stadium is scheduled to undergo a £1.3 billion restoration that would expand its capacity from 99,354 seats to 105,000 seats and add a roof to the stadium, meaning the Spanish champions won't play there for the 2023–24 season.

However, despite the fact that construction appears to have already begun, Mundo Deportivo reports that the club has extraordinary plans to use grass from the pitch from the previous season to sustainably create a variety of sparkling gems through a carbonization process that will yield real diamonds in just one week!

The name of the jewellery collection, the Etern Spotify Camp Nou 1957, alludes to the year that the gigantic stadium was first constructed.

The Blaugarana intend to use the 1957 jewels collected over a 7,000-square-metre field to make pins, bracelets, cufflinks, rings, necklaces, shields, and pins.

One carat will cost bidders just over £12,000 since fifty-seven one-carat diamonds are scheduled to be cut. Additionally, the club expects to make about £25 million a year from the venture. Diamonds appear to be here to stay in Barcelona!

And how will it operate? In any case, the Catalan giants will form a joint venture with the same business that transformed Pele's hair into priceless stones and will split the £25 million revenues with the group.

The late football legend had diamonds made out of hair strands that were worth about £4,500 at the time, according to a 2014 article in The Metro. The diamonds were made using a high-pressure technique.

The turf at Barcelona's beloved stadium, the Camp Nou, was cut after the team's 3-0 victory against Mallorca. Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba bid farewell to Barcelona fans after the game.

However, contemporary science has made it possible for us to produce diamonds in a sustainable manner in just a few days, compared to the billions of years it typically takes for them to form naturally.
