Roberto Mancini set to become Saudi Arabia national team head coach

The Italian led Italy’s national team to Euro 2020
According to recent rumours, Roberto Mancini is about to sign a significant £77 million contract to become the manager of Saudi Arabia.
After a five-year stint as head coach of the Azzurri, Mancini announced his resignation as Italy manager on August 13. Former Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti was named as Mancini’s successor.
Mancini led Italy to a victory at Euro 2020 and two third-place finishes in the Nations League during his tenure as manager.
Additionally, the 58-year-old is in final negotiations to lead the men’s national squad of the Gulf state before the Asian Cup in January, as reported by Sky Sports. Lele Oriali and Andrea Gagliardi could travel with him.

He is reportedly the Saudi Arabian Football Federation’s top pick for the position, and according to Sky, the job would last through the 2026 World Cup, which Saudi Arabia intends to welcome, on a three-year, £77 million contract.
The Italian Football Federation issued the following statement upon the announcement of Mancini’s departure: “The Italian Football Federation announces that it has taken note of Roberto Mancini’s resignation from the role of coach of the Italian national team, received late last evening.
This marks the end of an important chapter in the Azzurri’s history, one that started in May 2018 and ended with the 2023 Nations League Finals.
Since Herve Renard’s departure in March, Saad Al-Shehri, the coach of Saudi Arabia’s Under-23 team, has been in temporary command of the senior team.
Saudi Arabia was a World Cup qualifier for the aforementioned 2018 and 2022 tournaments, although they were eliminated in the group stage both times. However, they did defeat eventual champions Argentina, which had Lionel Messi, 2-1 in the group stage in Qatar the previous year.
Mancini might be the newest well-known person to travel to Saudi Arabia.
Numerous stars, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and N’Golo Kante, are currently playing club football in the nation, while Neymar is soon to join Al-Hilal from Paris Saint-Germain.
