Alejandro Garnacho scored his first league goal of the season

Everton hosted Manchester United at Goodison Park after the November international break. Erik ten Hag was in the stands for this match and needed three points from his team against Sean Dyche’s side.

The Red Devils took just three minutes to silence the Goodison crowd as Alejandro Garnacho got at the end of Diogo Dalot’s cross and scored a spectacular overhead kick to open the scoring for his side.

Garnacho followed this spectacular finish with the trademark Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘SIU’ goal celebration in front of the home supporters. He was then spotted pointing to the turf and copying the Portuguese icon’s ‘I am here’ celebration.

“I couldn’t believe I scored it to be honest, I didn’t see how I scored I just listened to the crowd and said oh my god. One of the best goals I’ve scored, I’m very happy,” said Garnacho in the post-match interview.

Manchester United managed to hold on to their lead in the first half and the score remained 1-0. This was also the fastest goal scored by Manchester United in the Premier League since March 2021.

In the second half, Anthony Martial was booked for diving in the penalty box. Later on, VAR reversed the decision and awarded the away side a penalty. Marcus Rashford took the responsibility and scored against his national teammate Jordan Pickford.

Martial also got on the scoresheet and scored his first goals in the Premier League 2023-24 season. Ten Hag’s men won 3-0 and moved to sixth place in the league. This was their third consecutive league win. Man United have also won their last four away matches.

Erik ten Hag’s men will travel for their UEFA Champions League tie against Turkish giants Galatasaray. The Red Devils sit fourth in Group A and this is a must-win game for them. Manchester United conceded two late goals in the first leg and lost 3-2 at Old Trafford. Bayern Munich will travel to Old Trafford for the last game of the group stage.
