The Gameweek 8 of the Indian Super League (ISL) saw eleven teams return to action. It was an action packed week of football with 21 goals being scored in just six matches. The goals were scored by eight teams.

Two thrilling 3-3 draws, two 1-0 victories, one 5-0 demolition and a 2-0 victory summed up the week gone by. On that note, let us take a look at the talking points from Gameweek 8

Mohun Bagan Super Giant wrapped up a fine 0-2 lead against Hyderabad FC away from home. It was the Mariners’ fifth consecutive win of the season. Moreover, they are currently the only side to win all their games.

Juan Ferrando’s men have a 100% record in their opening five games. They are yet to drop a point this season and have looked in very fine form. And not just that, they also have the joint best goal difference in the league.

Kolkata Giants East Bengal FC gave NorthEast United a good lesson about how they plan to go about their work this season. Cleiton Silva and Nanda Kumar scored two goals each after Borja Herrera opened the scoring for his side with a ferocious strike.

With this win, East Bengal ended its four match winless run and now have eight points to their tally. It was not just an ordinary 5-0 win for the Red and Golds, it was more of a statement of intent to warn all the other teams.

Manolo Marquez’s FC Goa are now back at the top of the Indian Super League after pulling off a fine 1-0 victory over the Blasters. Kerala Blasters were at the top of the summit ahead of this game, but FC Goa reclaimed it in their own way.

Rowllin Borges’ late first half strike was the only difference between the two sides and helped FC Goa clinch all three points and get back to the top of the league table. With this win, the Gaurs have accumulated 19 points to their tally in just seven games.
