Argentina players poked fun at Alejandro Garnacho for liking Ronaldo, reveals Leandro Paredes
Alejandro Garnacho idolises Ronaldo and does his Siuu celebration
Leandro Paredes admits that during the international break, Alejandro Garnacho was cruelly harassed by Argentina’s stars about his admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo.
The midfielder for Roma and Argentina, Paredes, claims that he and his international colleagues did not miss the opportunity to make fun of Garnacho for looking up to Ronaldo.
Though the young Manchester United player has never concealed his adoration for the Portuguese superstar, most teenage Argentine players grow up dreaming of being Lionel Messi.
Last month, Garnacho honoured his idol by imitating Ronaldo’s well-known “siiiuu” celebration following an amazing overhead kick against Everton.

The 19-year-old forward was called up for the first time as a senior Argentina player in March, and it seems that his fellow citizens did not think well of him for giving in to Messi’s fierce opponent.
Speaking to DSports – via Roy Nemer – Paredes said: “We joked about it with him. He is very shy and does not answer. Poor guy, we drove him crazy.
We also talked to him about what the group is, somehow we try to make them feel part of it and feel comfortable. Although in this case he got very nervous and couldn’t talk. But as he said, I think he is his idol, he always follows him a lot and he plays quite similarly. So it’s normal, nothing happens. When he comes to the national team he has to change a little bit because there is ours.”
Garnacho, who was left off of Argentina’s World Cup qualifying team that played Brazil and Uruguay last month, will be eager to get back into the team for their upcoming match. He will support United’s efforts to stay ahead of the top four teams in the Premier League in the meantime.
