Manchester United were knocked out of Europe following loss to Bayern

Erik ten Hag is under a lot of pressure at Manchester United and reports suggest that the Red Devils are considering a few options to replace the manager.

According to Relevo, Zidane, Potter, De Zerbi and Lopetegui are the top candidates to start their reign at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils finished third in the English Premier League 2022-23 season. This was a mixed season for Manchester United. They were inconsistent but managed to secure a Champions League berth.

Erik ten Hag and his squad started the 2023-24 season poorly. Man United have once again failed to get results in league and Europe. Currently, the team sits sixth in the league and is out of the Champions League after finishing bottom in Group A. This means that United won’t play in the UEFA Europa League as well.

Let’s take a look at the top four contenders who could become the next Manchester United manager.

Zinedine Zidane

Zidane has only managed Real Madrid in his managerial career. In his two spells as manager, the Frenchman led the Los Blancos to two LaLiga and three Champions League titles. Zidane has been previously linked with other clubs and he is not interested in taking any managerial role at this moment.

Graham Potter

The former Chelsea and Brighton manager has been without a job since April. Potter has managed four different clubs in the 12 years of his managerial career.

Roberto De Zerbi

Brighton’s manager is one of the hottest properties in world football. The former Shakhtar and Sassuolo manager has managed seven different clubs and will be one of the favourites to become the next Manchester United manager.

Julen Lopetegui

Wolves parted ways with Julen Lopetegui in August 2023 and the Spanish manager is looking for a new club. Lopetegui has managed Porto, Spain, Real Madrid and Sevilla. He is the most experienced manager among the four listed.

Man United are still considering options and might make a decision later on. They are likely to continue with Ten Hag for now and if the performances do not improve then the situation might change.
