Newcastle's Dan Ashworth likely to become Man United Sporting Director under Sir Jim Ratcliffe

Current Manchester United Sporting Director John Murtough will remain at the club
Dan Ashworth of Newcastle United is INEOS’s first pick to take over as Manchester United’s next sports head. Once confirmation of INEOS’s £1.3 billion ownership in the club is received, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his group will assume leadership of the football business.
Ratcliffe wants to change the organisational structure at Old Trafford, and CEO Richard Arnold has already resigned. Despite investing over £1 billion, United’s hiring has been dismal since Sir Alex Ferguson left in 2013.
Ashworth transformed Brighton’s hiring practices, which led to a transfer to Newcastle. He has played a key role in the recruitment of Anthony Gordon, Kieran Trippier, and Alexander Isak since relocating to the northeast.
He organised for Sir Dave Brailsford to address Newcastle’s players during their pre-season tour to Lisbon this past summer, Ashworth has become acquainted with INEOS.
Additionally, according to the MEN, INEOS has selected him to fill the position of sporting director, which is going to be the initial of such a position at Old Trafford.

The head of football at United, John Murtough, may leave the position after realising how much of an impact he’s had on hiring.
INEOS officials are reportedly impressed with Murtough, but they want to nominate their own staff to the company.
Confidential has learned that some forum users pleaded with the proprietors to close the Ratcliffe sale as quickly as possible.
Fans disputed assertions made by top executives regarding the Glazers’ alleged interactions with forum representatives. It should be noted that Joel Glazer has not attended a Fans Forum in over two years, despite his prior commitments to do so.
It is anticipated that former PSG and Juventus director Jean-Claude Blanc will take Richard Arnold’s position as CEO.
