Mauritania head coach, Amir Abdou has named 27 players that will most likely make up the final squad to represent the nation at next month’s TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, Ivory Coast 2023.
The Mauritanian team finds itself in group D alongside Algeria, Burkina Faso and Angola and go into the competition carrying the underdogs tag.
When does Africa Cup of Nations 2023 start?
Beginning with six groups of four teams facing each other, and with qualifications centred around head-to-head outcomes between countries and secondly head-to-head goal differentials, the 24-team AFCON will be held from January 13 to February 11.
The four teams with the most points in every competition as well as the champions and runners-up will advance to the knockout round. The Ivorian capital of Abidjan’s Alassane Ouattara Stadium will host the final.
