Why Manchester United will only play one Premier League game in January 2024?

Manchester United will play a maximum of three matches in the first month of the new year

Manchester United and other clubs in England have a packed schedule in December 2023. However, the fans of the Red Devils will only see their team featuring a maximum of three times in January 2024.

This is terrible news for the club’s fans considering how the 2023-24 season is currently going.

Manchester United played against Wigan in the 3rd round of the FA Cup. Last year’s runners-up will travel to the DW Stadium and hope to start the cup campaign on a positive note. If Man United manage to win then they will face their next opponents in the FA Cup.

They were due to face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on Tuesday, January 30 but this fixture has now been moved to Thursday, February 1. 

Erik ten Hag’s men will only face Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League. This fixture is scheduled to take place on 14 January.

The Dutch manager is under a lot of pressure after a recent run of poor results. He was the Manager of the Month in November but the team has struggled to repeat that form. They are also out of Europe after a 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich.

Man United currently sits sixth in the league table with nine wins and seven draws. They are the only team yet to play a draw. Their next four matches in December are scheduled against Liverpool, West Ham United, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest.

The Red Devils need to find their rhythm. Erik ten Hag might lose his job following poor performances. Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s arrival is opening the door for Graham Potter. The former Chelsea manager is being considered to take over the managerial role at Old Trafford.
