Khalid Jamil heaped praise upon Imran Khan, after the player scored Jamshedpur’s opener in the ISL clash.

Jamshedpur FC played out a 1-1 draw against NorthEast United FC to mark the resumption of the Indian Super League 2023-24 season. Imran Khan opened the scoring for Khalid Jamil’s men against his former side in the first half. A 66th minute equaliser from Mohammed Bemammer spoiled the party for the home fans.

Jamshedpur FC manager Khalid Jamil came out to address the media after the game. Below are the extracts from it.

Thoughts on the game

Despite a dominant display Jamshedpur FC had to settle for an unlucky draw. The coach was asked to share his thoughts on the team’s performance.

Khalid asserted, “In the second half, all the players tried hard but NorthEast United put the pressure on us to get the equaliser. Three points would have been better and we tried hard to get those three points. I think we lack concentration after the first goal as the home team you have to be focused. We must try more and in the home game, we must get three points.”

On Imran’s debut goal

Imran Khan scored his first goal in Jamshedpur FC’s colours in the electrifying atmosphere at the Furnace. The youngster has been a key player for the club this season under both Scott Cooper and now Khalid Jamil.

The boss expressed his joy for the youngster, “I am happy for Imran. He has been a great player in training and in games since my arrival. He has been giving his best. He is a good versatile player. It is good for him to score.”

On fan’s support

Jamshedpur FC are famous for the unwavering support from the passionate Red Miners at the JRD Tata Sports Complex fondly known as the Furnace. This game was no different and the fans were full of enthusiasm and backed the Men of Steel throughout the game.

The coach, on a thankful note, left a message for the fans, “I am very happy with the fans. They were very supportive today. I hope to see them in larger numbers in the next game. And I hope we can give them many victories in the remaining matches.”
