Louis Saha advises Manchester United to sign Karim Benzema
Karim Benzema is likely to leave Saudi Arabia after just one season
To address their goal-scoring difficulties, the team has been urged to sign Karim Benzema by former Manchester United player Louis Saha.
The previous France international striker believes that signing veteran striker Karim Benzema from Al-Ittihad would prove to be a huge help to the struggling United team, and he wants the Red Devils to sign Benzema.
In addition, he criticised the team management for failing to back up Rasmus Hojlund adequately in the offensive third, which has contributed to the striker’s goal dearth in the Premier League during his rookie campaign.
Speaking to BettingOdds.com, Saha said:
“He [Benzema] will shake up the United frontline and that’s what they need. He will definitely score goals and he will link up the play a lot better. It’s just a dream, but Karim is still a very professional guy, he’s the type of striker that Hojlund will learn from, but that’s just a fantasy.”
He added: “It’s the right club for him [Hojlund], but it’s unfair to give him the responsibility of the number nine position alone without an experienced player around him.

You can have talented wingers or offensive midfielders, but being a striker is a different mentality. You need someone to show you runs in the box and I don’t think he can see them, the Premier League is a tough league for stuff like that. I played with [Ruud] Van Nistelrooy and [Ole Gunnar] Solskjaer. I had the chance to look at those legends and learn my runs and skills from them.”
Just 22 goals in 20 games so far this season had been scored by the Premier League’s biggest clubs, indicating a serious goal-scoring deficit. Only Burnley and Sheffield United scored fewer goals than Erik ten Hag’s team, and they are level on goals scored with Crystal Palace.
After joining the team in the summer, Hojlund netted his initial league goal on Christmas Day against Aston Villa.
Ten Hag’s team will be looking to start 2024 strong after they have only won once in the past four matches in the Premier League. On January 8, they play an FA Cup match against Wigan Athletic in their first match of the year, which is a beneficial tie.
