Manchester United NOT planning to offer Anthony Martial a new contract despite rumours of contract extension talks
The French striker will become a free agent in June
Notwithstanding manager Erik ten Hag’s statement that talks over a new contract are still ongoing, a source close to Manchester United revealed that they anticipate Anthony Martial to depart in the summer.
Ten Hag stated during a press conference on Thursday that Martial’s contract extension, which could have maintained him at Old Trafford until June 2025, had not been approved by United.
The Dutchman stated that the team is “talking” with Martial and his legal team, but a source claims that a new deal is unlikely to come from the talks. In the summer, the Frenchman is going to be free to sign elsewhere if new terms are not agreed upon.
After joining from Monaco in 2015, Martial completed eight and a half seasons at United, where he scored 90 goals in 317 games.
Ten Hag stated he does not anticipate the 28-year-old to be fit for the FA Cup third tie with Wigan Athletic on Monday. The player has missed the previous month due to illness.

Ten Hag verified on Thursday that United has activated one-year extensions to their contracts for Victor Lindelöf and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, extending their tenure through 2025.
Raphaël Varane’s comparable option has not been activated by the team, although they are willing to extend the defender’s deal on less favourable conditions.
Varane’s deal expires in June, and as of January 1, he is free to talk with teams other than the Premier League.
Borussia Dortmund, Jadon Sancho’s former team, are getting closer to receiving a loan from United. The 23-year-old’s salaries will be partially funded by the German side in addition to a small loan charge.
“I can’t say anything about that,” Ten Hag said on Thursday.
“We have to wait and see how things are going. When we have news, we will tell you. I can’t say anything about this subject because there is no news.”
