Andre Onana will participate in Manchester United vs Tottenham

According to a source, Andre Onana will skip Cameroon’s opening match at the Africa Cup of Nations to be ready for Manchester United’s Premier League match against Tottenham. The Cameroonian FA permitted Onana to forgo a pre-season camp in Saudi Arabia so he may play in Monday’s FA Cup match for United against Wigan Athletic.

The Cameroon Federation has acknowledged that the goalkeeper isn’t going to be present for their opening AFCON group match against Guinea 24 hours later on January 15, according to a source. The goalie is expected to postpone his travel even longer to participate against Tottenham at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Onana will participate in the last two Group C matches on January 19 against Senegal and January 23 against the Gambia.

He will be absent from United’s FA Cup fourth-round match on the two days of January 27–28 against either Newport County or Eastleigh. Should Cameroon advance to the tournament’s Ivory Coast final, he might stay with them until February 11.

When Tottenham visits Old Trafford this weekend, British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe is expected to be in the bleachers for the first occasion since finalising an agreement to purchase a 25% share in United.

Ratcliffe, the chairman and CEO of INEOS, visited with the players in the new first-team squad at Carrington, had discussions with Erik ten Hag, the manager, and will watch the inaugural match on Sunday.

Jean-Claude Blanc, INEOS sport’s chief executive, and incumbent football chairman John Murtough were present at the DW Stadium for Monday’s 2-0 victory over Wigan, which was attended by Sir Dave Brailsford, chairman of INEOS sport.

As soon as Ratcliffe’s minority interest is approved, Brailsford and Blanc will assume INEOS’s two board positions at United.

Since the contract was revealed on Christmas Eve, Brailsford has been a regular fixture at Carrington. Before the deal was formally signed off, he has been meeting with important staff on many occasions during the interim period.
