The new formation makes us more dangerous in opponent's area, asserts Punjab FC boss Staikos Vergetis

Vergetis went all praise for youngster Tekcham Abhishek Singh.

The misery for Bengaluru FC continues as they face yet another defeat in the ongoing ISL campaign of 2023-24. Punjab FC who missed out on a win in a reverse fixture got their tactics right on the money. Bengaluru FC scored the first goal in the 15th minute, Punjab FC responded in style by scoring 3 goals to win the game 3-1. Colombian striker Wilmar Jordan Gil scored the first goal in the 23rd minute. 

Luka Majcen and Madih Talal extended the lead in the 71st and 77th minute respectively for the Shers against the Blues. Punjab FC head coach, Staikos Vergetis spoke to the media after the game.

Tactical changes

Staikos Vergetis made a few tactical changes by starting Ravi Kumar in goal thereby freeing up one foreign spot in the outfield. Staikos explained by stating,”The first is that the new formation that we are playing in the last period, as it showed in the Super Cup, also make us more dangerous in the opponent area. We take advantage that Jordan is ready to play now and with the two strikers in front. “

“The second is that our players start to obtain one dynamic that gave them the first round games for us, sorry to end games because we are playing, that the players took experiences that now are useful for them to face the situation of the game more prepared,” he added.

Tekcham Abhishek Singh is the budding star in Punjab FC lineup who has impressed experts and fans alike. The Manipuri youngster yet again impressed with his impeccable display. The Greek head coach was all praise for the youngster and said, “He was brilliant today. Abishek is one youngster boy as all the others that we have in our team, who is working a lot, he loves football very much. We try to help him.”

“He has done a lot of patience because he looked in his position and it is going well also. But now I feel very confident to put him in play. I don’t (feel) afraid. He has taken all the concepts of(becoming) a complete fullback player.”
