First-half strikes from midfielder Rohit Kumar (9th minute) and North Korean Kim Song-Yong (43rd minute) helped DSK Shivajians FC impress in the inaugural match of the tournament. The Goans pulled one back via striker Victorino Fernandes (63rd minute) in the second half. The victory gave DSK Shivajians FC three points and helped them open their account in Group-A. Playing the tournament for the first time, DSK Shivajians FC broke the deadlock early through an intelligent move. Skipper Juan Quero, from the right flank, delivered a ball which Kim left for Rohit.
