Armando Colaco's men came from behind to grab all three points...
FC Bardez Goa secured their first win in the Goa Pro League as they beat Churchull Brothers 2-1 at Duler Stadium earlier today. FC Bardez were all at sea in the first half as they struggled to retain possession or create many clear chances. Churchill went into the break with a one goal cushion. Pankaj Sona scored within the opening ten minutes of the game. However, FCBG came from behind to win as Chatur Naik and Jessel Carneiro scored after the break to seal the win. Churchill started the game in aggressive fashion as they had their first attack on goal straight after kickoff. But luckily Mathew was there to clear the ball. On 7 minutes Nicholas Fernandes shot the ball on goal which got deflected by the defender. It fell kindly for Pankaj Sona who made no mistake to slot in with keeper Bilal Khan out of position. In the 23th minute Alesh Sawant swung in a corner, Rowilson headed it towards goal but the defender cleared it. FCBG defender Mathew Gonsalves produced a superb performance at the back for his team. FCBG introduced two substitutions after the break as Lenstan Afonso came in for Sarenio and Chatur Naik came on for Franky Oliveiro . Just four minutes into the second half FCBG equalised as Alesh Sawant crossed the ball from the left flank, Chatur Naik was there to tap it into the goal. On 54 minutes Jessel crossed the ball inside the box, Alesh got it but was pushed by the defender. However, no foul was given. In the 58th minute Mikey Vaz got a yellow card for pulling down Chatur Naik. In the dying embers of the game Richard got the ball and took it past two defenders before passing it to Jessel who shot the ball in the frame of the goal to make it 2-1. FCBG’s Assistant Coach Climax Lawrence was very happy with the win and said, “It's our first victory. I’m very happy. We conceded in the first half but our boys played very well in the second."The world's most exciting and comprehensive social platform for sports fans.
