I am very happy with the team as they have done a good job-Zambrotta
The Italian has no complaints after a goalless draw against league leaders Mumbai...
Delhi Dynamos FC played out a 0-0 draw in their last game of the league stage of Hero Indian Super League 2016 against Mumbai City FC at the Mumbai Football Arena on Saturday and strengthened their position in second place with 21 points from 14 games. Now they will have to wait for the result from the game between Kerala Blasters FC and NorthEast United FC on Sunday to see where they finish in the top 4.
Speaking to the media after the encounter, Delhi head coach Gianluca Zambrotta expressed satisfaction at the result. “I am very happy about today’s game and it was a very good game and we did our job well,” Zambrotta, who made eight changes to the starting line-up on the night, said.
“Today was a strong match and unfortunately no goals but Delhi Dynamos played two matches in five days and today was a tough match. Also, we have got to consider giving a chance to some important players for recovery, also give some other players an opportunity to play.”
Delhi went into the match without their star players and that showed in their performance as the highest-scoring team of the season so far struggled to create any serious chances in the first half. However, there was a marked improvement in the second and Zambrotta shed light on that. “Today we had some opportunities and in the second half we played in a different way and I had to change our model of play as we had some players who play in a different way, and also according to the players who were available, but I am very happy with the team as they have done a good job,” the 39-year-old said.
Commenting on his ISL experience so far, the Italian World Cup winner said: “The experience has been very good and I am happy with the ISL and my target was to reach the semi-finals and we have done that, so now we have to change the target and try to reach the final, and at the end of the season I will speak to the president regarding my future here.”
