Delhi United earn battling draw against Pune City Reserves
Both sides failed to convert chances that were created throughout the game as the refree blew the final whistle.
Delhi United and Pune City Reserves shared the spoils after a tightly contested affair in the I-League Second Division match played at the Ambedkar Stadium on Wednesday.
Even in the scorching heat both the teams produced some exciting action in the first half of the match. Delhi United were the dominant side in the first session as they created numerous chances but strong defending restricted them taking the lead.
In the 29th minute, Delhi United almost took the lead when Ladji Saika found himself in the right position to thump the ball but sent it wide. In the 39th minute, Pune City got a corner but keeper Royal Basumataray prevented a goal with his amazing goalkeeping skills.

Pune again came up with two more promising attacks in the last ten minutes of the first half, but Basumatary made an excellent save to keep his slate clean. After the first half the score was 0-0.

Chesterpaul’s long diagonal was stolen by Akshay Pashilkar and with this Pune City Reserves again lost their chance of come back. Pashilkar dictated the game for Delhi all over the match with his tremendous performance. For Delhi, today’s performance has reflected their vigorous and focused practice sessions after losing the previous match. In the end, both sides failed to convert chances that were created throughout the game as the refree blew the final whistle.
