FC Goa’s all transfers completed so far in the 2024-2025 summer window
The Gaurs have been inching closer to the ISL trophy and the League Winners’ Shield.
FC Goa finished third in the Indian Super League (ISL) and made it to the semi-finals of the ISL playoffs. Under Manolo Marquez, the Gaurs were somewhat closer to competing for the trophies as they were knocked out by Mumbai City in the playoffs.
The Spaniard is also set to leave the side next season, in light of his appointment as India’s national team coach. Before that, he wants to help Goa achieve substantial progress in the form of silverware.
After a five-year hiatus, the Gaurs no longer look to be struggling to break into the top half of the league. In fact, they were top of the league for quite some time before a dismal run of results dethroned them.
The tactician has configured the side to resemble their old frightening selves and will want to take them one step further. Here are all the transfers completed by FC Goa so far in the 2024-25 summer window to help them in that area:
Incomings
Armando Sadiku
After his eight-goal debut with Mohun Bagan Super Giants last season, the Albanian national icon is primed to stage his heroics with the Gaurs. Sadiku is poised to be FC Goa’s most captivating signing this season and will give the fans plenty of hope.
Iker Guarrotxena
The Spanish standout performer is back at the club after a season with Mumbai City FC. Fans are thrilled at his return as the last time he played for the club, Guarrotxena scored a whopping 11 times and was only a goal behind the Golden Boot winner.
Dejan Drazic
Serbian winger Dejan Drazic is FC Goa’s newest foreign recruit and brings flair, clinicality, and energy to the table. The ISL debutant’s ravishing skillset ensures that he has all the tools to succeed at the club.
Borja Herrera
The Spanish midfielder spent the majority of last season at the club after arriving from East Bengal on loan in the winter transfer window. In that short span, Herrera picked up two goals and three assists and was a vital cog of the playmakers’ department, earning him a permanent transfer to Goa.
Laxmikant Kattimani
The ISL shot-stopping hero has returned to his first-ever club in the league after putting pen to paper on a one-year contract. Even at 35, the reliable goal custodian will play a good mentor role in the goalkeeping department and prove to be a worthy rotation option for the likes of Arshdeep Singh, Lara Sharma and Hrithik Tiwari.
Mohammed Yasir
The FC Goa graduate returned to the club on a loan spell from Hyderabad FC last season and proved his worth with six goal contributions in only 13 appearances. Yasir was rewarded with a permanent transfer that would mean his inclusion in the team on their road to glory.
Rowlin Borges
Experienced defensive midfielder Rowlin Borges moved to Goa on a loan from Mumbai City and played a massive 25 games. His contribution in those matches (including five goals) earned him a permanent spot on the roster this season.
Lara Sharma
Dheeraj Singh’s exit meant Arshdeep was set to play first-team football regularly and needed a reliable deputy. Lara Sharma has been brought on in that role to aid the shot-stopper.
Akash Sangwan
Chennaiyin FC left-back Akash Sangwan had a great campaign scoring twice in the ISL and assisting two more in the Durand Cup in only 18 appearances. Sangwan will give Jay Gupta good competition for a starter berth in that left-back spot.
Muhammad Hamad
Hamad’s flexible profile as a hybrid right-back and centre-back will add more rotation options at the back for Manolo Marquez’s side. The defender played 11 and 10 games respectively in those positions for Real Kashmir last season while also playing at left back twice.
Outgoings
Noah Sadaoui
As excited as they will be with the returning players and new additions, fans will be disheartened at the departure of star winger Noah Sadaoui. Sadaoui’s move to Kerala Blasters has already been a hit, with the Moroccan attacker scoring a hattrick in his first game for the side in the Durand Cup.
Carlos Martinez
The clinical Spanish striker chose to hang up his boots at the end of last season and bowed out leaving a treasure trove of fond memories for the fans.
Paulo Retre
Appearing 17 times for FC Goa, Retre was a solid deputy in the defensive midfield position before returning to the A-League with Wellington.
Victor Rodrigues
Angel-in-disguise Victor Rodrigues chipped in with five goals and three assists in 14 appearances for the club last season while filling in for the injured Carlos Martinez. However, this season he was one of the six players the club bid adieu to as their contracts ran out.
Brandon Fernandes
Brandon’s 109 appearances yielded 11 goals and 25 assists for FC Goa but more importantly innumerable spectacular performances and memorable remembrances with the fans. The long-standing club captain went back to Mumbai City FC after spending eight years in the Gaurs’ colours.
Dheeraj Singh
Although a crucial part of the squad last season, Dheeraj opted to join ISL League Winner’s Shield winners Mohun Bagan Super Giant.
Raynier Fernandes
Raynier moved to FC Goa on a permanent transfer last season from Mumbai City FC but enjoyed his time away on loan to Odisha FC. Keen to reunite with former manager Sergio Lobera and teammates Ahmed Jahouh and Amrinder Singh, the midfielder has decided to extend his loan stay at the Juggernauts base.
Saviour Gama
Deemed excess to requirements, Saviour Gama was released ahead of the ISL 2024/25.
Sanson Pereira
Like Saviour, the 26-year-old left-back’s contract wasn’t renewed as he remains without a suitor in this transfer window.
Amarjit Singh Kiyam
The 23-year-old defensive midfielder was recruited by ISL debutants Mohammedan SC and is sure to get more game time with his new side.
