The penultimate ISL gameweek produced some exciting performances.

The 2023-24 season of the Indian Super League (ISL) has not been short on entertainment. It recently completed its gameweek 21 of the ongoing campaign which saw some magnificent individual performances from domestic and foreign players alike. As the league stage of the competition is reaching its end, the players are delivering high-class displays to help their respective clubs achieve season-ending objectives.

Looking back at the performances from gameweek 21, a lot of players caught the eye after playing key roles for their respective clubs. Keeping the past week’s performances in consideration, here is a look at the individuals who shined the brightest and made their way in Khel Now’s 2023-24 Indian Super League (ISL) Team of the Week 21:

Formation – 4-4-2

GK – Debjit Majumder (Chennaiyin FC)

Debjit Majumder made key saves in both of Chennaiyin FC’s must-win games in the past week. The custodian registered four saves against NorthEast United in the 2-1 win which was a major victory for his side against the direct competitors.

RB – Ankit Mukherjee (Chennaiyin FC)

Ankit Mukherjee scored in injury time with a well-placed long-ranger to help Chennaiyin FC beat NorthEast United. His goal puts the Marina Machans in the driver’s seat for the sixth and final qualifying spot for the playoffs.

CB – Melroy Assisi (Punjab FC)

Melroy Assisi delivered an impressive performance for Punjab FC albeit in a losing cause against Mohun Bagan SG. The centre-back made five clearances and six interceptions.

CB – Asheer Akhtar (NorthEast United)

Asheer Akhtar has been one of the most consistent performers at NorthEast United this season. He performed well against Kerala Blasters FC in a 2-0 win, helping the side maintain a clean-sheet with seven interceptions.

LB – Aakash Sangwan (Chennaiyin FC)

Aakash Sangwan was a constant threat for Chennaiyin FC against NorthEast United. His direct goal from a corner-kick situation gave Owen Coyle’s men parity and a chance to go for the win.

CM – Saul Crespo (East Bengal FC)

Saul Crespo’s calm and composed penalty conversion against Bengaluru FC inspired East Bengal FC to a 2-1 win in the past gameweek. Securing three points against the Blues was a must to keep the playoff hopes alive for Carles Cuadrat’s men.

RW – Lallianzuala Chhangte (Mumbai City FC)

Lallianzuala Chhangte was unplayable in Mumbai City FC’s 2-1 win over Odisha FC which takes them one step closer to winning the ISL Shield. The winger scored and assisted, playing a role in both of MCFC’s goals.
