NorthEast United FC vs Jamshedpur FC: Rating every Indian player that played in the match
(Courtesy : ISL Media.)
Both defences held sway as the two teams played out a stalemate.
Poor finishing in front of goal, meant the 4th season of ISL is yet to see a goal being scored after the hosts NorthEast United FC played out a goal-less draw against debutants Jamshedpur FC in the second match of the tournament. The Highlanders had the majority of chances, but were left frustrated by the profligacy of their frontmen and had to be content with one point only.
Here’s how the Indian Players on both the teams rated
NorthEast United FC
Rehenesh TP: (7/10)
Didn’t have much to do for the 90 minutes, but pulled off a superb save with his outstretched foot from a Izu Azuka shot in first half stoppage time to keep his side level at the break.
Nirmal Chettri:(7/10)
Didn’t do much wrong the entire match, had a assured game defensively and didn’t allow the opposition much leeway along the right side of NEUFC’s defence.
Abdul Hakku: (9/10)
Had a superb game at the heart of the Highlander’s defence, making crucial interceptions, made vital clearences and won most of his aerial duels. This performance of the young defender certainly enhances his already growing reputation as one for the future.
Robert Lathlamuana (8/10)
The captain was one of the better players on the day, put in a good shift and managed to keep the dangerous Sameehg Doutie quiet for most part of the game.
Seminlen Doungel (8.5/10)
Was a lively presence on the wing, and caused problems for Jamshedpur’s defence, almost got an assist for himself when his vicious cross from the right, after a superb solo run found Marcinho in the box, who headed it against the post. Also, performed his defensive duties well.
Lalrindika Ralte (7/10)
Wasn’t much impressive in the first half but grew into the game as the match progressed. Much of NEUFC’s good play in the 2nd half came through him in the midfield, with him playing some dangerous passes into the final third.
Substitutes
Halicharan Narzary (6/10)
Came on for Seminlen Doungel in the 71st minute, his addition livened up the game as NEUFC looked more dangerous. His pace caused the weary legs of Jamshedpur FC’s defence problems; he came close to scoring, when his well taken shot from outside the box, whizzed past the top corner, also in the 2nd minute of stoppage time he put the ball on a plate for fellow substitute Luis Paez, who skied his effort.

Jamshedpur FC
Subrata Paul (9/10)
The ‘Spiderman’ made a number of big saves to keep his side from falling behind by 2-3 goals, but the one in which he went down quickly to his left to keep out a Danilo Cezario effort, following a one-on-one situation caught the eye. The experienced custodian also commanded his area well, smothering dangerous balls into the box.
Souvik Chakrabarti (5/10)
He struggled against the pace of Odair Fortes and Seiminlen Doungel, and offered precious little, going forward.
Anas Edathodika (7/10)
The Indian international started brightly, but his performance was a bit subdued in the 2nd half, allowing the Highlanders to fashion numerous attempts to score. However he played his part in earning his defence a clean sheet, making crucial interceptions and was also a strong physical presence, thwarting NEUFC’s forwards on key moments.
Shouvik Ghosh (6/10)
The left-back like most of his defensive colleagues did not have a great second half, but stuck to his job pretty well, also made a great headed clearance to repel away Lalrindika’s shot at goal.
Mehtab Hossain (5.5/10)
Some of the experienced midfielder’s long range passing to find Sameehg Doutie was good, but in all fairness he struggled to impose himself in midfield. Also he was guilty of leaving his defence exposed a few times.
Jerry Mawihmingthanga (4.5/10)
The young Mizo lad didn’t have a game to remember as he was comfortably out-muscled by Nirmal Chettri and Adilson, also some of his decision-making in the final third were questionable
Substitutes
Farukh Choudhary (5/10)
Brought in place of Mehtab Hossain to add some flair to Jamshedpur’s attack, he got to the end of balls into the final third, but couldn’t manage to do anything to worry the NEUFC defence
Yumnam Raju (6/10)
Brought in to shore up the defence after Bikey’s dismissal, he got stuck in and defended quite well, doing his best to keep the dangerous Halicharan Narzary at bay.
