The tactician also emphasized that football is a contact sport.
Mumbai City FC’s encounter with ATK at the Salt Lake Stadium ended in a 2-2 draw, as Roy Krishna’s late strike in the 96th minute meant that Jorge Costa and his side had to be content with a single point. The coach spoke to the media personnel later on, as he stressed upon his thoughts on the game by saying, “I think the game was okay. To be honest, I liked the physical battles today. I say that football isn’t ballet, it’s a contact sport. We were here to fight for the three points and go back home with three points. I think we deserved the win today. “The first half was great. When we went into the dressing room then we had the capacity and quality to change the game. After the last second, we conceded the goal. I cannot be happy with the result. I cannot be happy with the way we conceded the goals. But, I’m very proud of the players.” [KH_ADWORDS type="3" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS] Mumbai have failed to win any of their last five matches after securing a victory in their first game of the season. They were supposed to attain a positive winning momentum after the international break, but could bag only two points in the matches against NorthEast United and ATK. Jorge Costa remarked, “We’re far from home in 6-7 days and got only two points from as many games. But, we should have gone back with six points. I can tell at the end, we’ll be there fighting for the top four.” Costa is someone who generally refrains from speaking about individual players in his press conferences. However, tonight was an aberration, as he reflected on Subhasish Bose’s performance by stating, “I’m happy, very happy with the performance of all my players. Subhasish could’ve been sent off, but I felt otherwise his work was pretty good.” He then spoke about the referees, as they were right at the centre of all the action, given the outright physical battles that the players from both teams were involved in. Costa said, ““I like these kind of referees, who allow us to play. Did he have an impact on the result? I don’t think so. He maybe decided to give a minute extra at the end, but that’s his decision. We must be focused till the end, so we can’t complain on that. Today, I feel we saw two very good teams and very good referees as well. When it’s like this, I have nothing to say. [KH_RELATED_NEWS title="RELATED NEWS | ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW"][/KH_RELATED_NEWS] “I wish all the referees can be like this one.” Mumbai City FC will now face Kerala Blasters on 5th December, as they return home in hope of bagging three points from their seventh game of the campaign.Latest News
