The Spaniard explained how his side dominated the game for the majority of the time and yet were held to a draw.
Odisha FC hosted ATK at their new temporary home in Pune and managed to hold the table-toppers to a goalless draw. However, the scoreline does very little justice to a game that was filled with action and drama until the final minutes. Both sides came very close to scoring on more than one occasion, but neither managed to get a goal. Odisha FC head coach Josep Gombau spoke to the press after his side put an end to ATK’s three-match winning run. Thoughts On The Game The Spaniard had mixed feelings about the final result, as he felt his team should've got all three points. “I am happy that the team played well. However, I am disappointed that we didn’t get three points after putting up such a good performance." [KH_ADWORDS type="3" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS] "Our gameplan worked and our performance was too good. But, we failed to score and missed out on three points that we deserved. ATK too had plenty of chances and played really well, this justifies the final score," stated Josep Gombau. "But, looking back at the game, the number of chances created, crosses played and the way we controlled the game, I feel we deserved to win. I am satisfied with the team’s performance, not with the result." "We play all the games from our wings, with just one striker upfront. We didn't have the chance to score, but I feel we played really well and I am satisfied with my players," he added. Xisco On The Bench Josep Gombau was further asked about playing Xisco from the bench. He replied saying, “Every game is different and I prefer to use different players. Xisco’s performance has been good so far, but we decided to bench him after having a look at the way the opposition play. That was the reason he didn’t start. But, besides that, I am very happy with his performances." Speaking about the team’s display after playing five games with just one win and two draws, he said, “Honestly, I feel we have played really well right from the beginning. The first two games that we lost, we put up very good performances and lost both the games by one goal each," said Josep Gombau. We have been working really hard from the start. We have a strong team with a good mix of young players and foreign players." "ATK are a far more experienced side and are in great form. We did really well with a relatively younger side," concluded Josep Gombau. With that result, ATK stay at the top of the table, a point clear of Bengaluru FC. On the other hand, Odisha move to fifth.Latest News
