Sumit Rathi signs new long-term contract at ATK Mohun Bagan

One of the brilliant performers of Indian Super League (ISL) 2019-20 campaign, Sumit Rathi has signed a new long-term contract at ATK Mohun Bagan. The deal will keep him at the club till 2025.
"I am extremely grateful to the club for their trust in me and it gives me immense pride to represent ATK Mohun Bagan FC. I am very excited and honoured to don the green and maroon jersey next season," quoted Sumit Rathi.
The 18-year-old was one of the most talked-about domestic young players in the country last season, owing to his brilliance on pitch. Rathi featured in 14 games for the Kolkata outfit in his debut campaign and delivered a masterful performance throughout. In the 1170 minutes he was on the pitch for the eventual champions. Sumit Rathi performed a staggering 115 clearances, 27 tackles and 365 passes, while maintaining a good 74% accuracy. For that, he also earned himself the title of ISL Emerging Player of The Season, along with a call-up to the national team camp.
Having penned the multi-year contract at ATK Mohun Bagan, the youngster has now committed his future to the club. Moreover, he will also be part of their AFC Cup campaign next year for the Kolkata giants, a valuable experience he can look forward to.

Meanwhile, Sumit Rathi joins a host of other players from the ISL-winning side to pledge their future to the club. Among the players who have already penned down contract extensions are skipper Pritam Kotal, Prabir Das, Roy Krishna, Jobby Justin and Edu Garcia.
On the other hand, the club has also managed to bring in the likes of Subhasish Bose from Mumbai City and last season's I-League-winner with Mohun Bagan, Sk Sahil on long-term contracts. This proves that ATK Mohun Bagan mean business in the ongoing transfer window and are looking forward to their first season in Indian football as a merged entity along with a debut in theAFC Cup.
