The Spanish league has signed a new partnership with EA Sports

LaLiga will award €130 million prize money to clubs depending on their broadcast performances in the 2023-24 season.

According to Revelo, the Spanish top division will award the prize money to those who put on the best show.

LaLiga announced a new sponsorship deal with EA Sports some time ago. They marked their new sponsorship deal with a rebrand of their image and of their in-game graphics. This is a five-year partnership, and the Spanish league calls it the beginning of a 'new era.'

Revelo added that the clubs will be awarded points based on how good their broadcasting is, which will be assessed based on the use of new technology and access.

The points system will have a minimum number of points (175) which will go to teams that provide the minimum stipulated access. Those who provide extra tunnel footage, dressing room footage, motivational speeches, half-time interviews or immediate reaction will work their way to the maximum score of 500 points.

The money will then be divided between the clubs based on the position of those teams in the table, and depending on the number which reaches 500 points.

This system is designed in order to help incentivise a better TV product, improve access for the upcoming LaLiga Netflix series and create a more engaging product, following in the footsteps of Formula 1 and the NBA.

The money itself comes from the new TV rights deal signed by La Liga, where 50% is divided between the clubs equally, 25% is based on sporting results, and the final 25% which goes to improving the product – this comes from that 25%.

This will make a huge impact on the content that the Spanish league will produce in the 2023-24 season. As for the prize money, the reward system is likely to benefit big clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla and Valencia.
