Cristiano Ronaldo's lawyer claims that the rape allegations are fake and fabricated
The allegations were first reported in German news magazine Der Spiegel in 2017.
After being caught up in a tax-evasion controversy, Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has skydived into another scandal, but something which is totally different to his previous incident. Caught in the middle of rape allegations, the Portuguese has vehemently denied it. His lawyer went on to further state that the flow of accusations is fake.
It was first reported in German news magazine Der Spiegel, which he claimed to be fake, and his representatives have been reported to take alleged legal action against the weekly magazine. The women in question, Kathryn Mayorga has stated that she was attacked by the former Real Madrid forward in a hotel room at a Las Vegas hotel in 2009.
Cristiano has denied assaulting Mayorga at all. Der Spiegel have reported that Mayorga filed a report with Las Vegas police shortly after the alleged rape incident. A statement from the UEFA Euro 2016 winner's lawyer, Peter Christiansen, repeated his client's words that the documents regarding the allegations are fabricated and fake.
Christiansen stated that a "media outlet irresponsibly" revealed a report based on "stolen and easily manipulated digital documents" and from which "significant parts were altered and/or completely fabricated".
It is being alleged that in 2010, Mayorga reportedly settled for an out-of-court agreement with the 33-year-old football player involving a £288,000 payment for never going public with the sexual assault allegations. Christiansen further reiterated, "what happened in 2009 in Las Vegas was completely consensual".
Regarding the agreement, he said that Ronaldo did enter into one, but the reasons leading him to do are distorted by the media. The lawyer's statement further read, "What happened was simply that Cristiano Ronaldo merely followed the advice of his advisors in order to put an end to the outrageous accusations made against him, in order precisely to avoid attempts, such as those we are now witnessing, to destroy a reputation built thanks to hard work, athletic ability and behavioural correction."
"Unfortunately, it is now involved in the type of litigation that is very common in the United States. Although Cristiano Ronaldo is accustomed to media attention, inherent in the fact that he is a famous person, it is absolutely deplorable that the media continue to propagate and stimulate an intentional defamation campaign based on stolen and easily manipulated digital documents. Cristiano Ronaldo has mandated his lawyers in the United States and Europe to deal with all legal aspects and expresses full confidence that the truth will prevail, despite the corruption of counter-information, and in which the laws of Nevada will be enforced and respected."

The statement also mentions that the alleged documents consisting the supposed agreement details are fake and fabricated. Christiansen said, "So that there are no doubts: Cristiano Ronaldo vehemently denies all the accusations in this civil action, inconsistency with what he has done in the last nine years. The documents that allegedly contain statements by Mr Ronaldo and were reproduced in the media are pure inventions. By 2015, dozens of entities (including law firms) in different parts of Europe were attacked and their electronic data stolen by a cybercriminal.
This hacker tried to sell such information, and a media outlet irresponsibly ended up publishing some of the stolen documents, significant parts of which were altered and/or completely fabricated. Once again, for the avoidance of doubt, Cristiano Ronaldo's position has always been, and continues to be, that what happened in 2009 in Las Vegas was completely consensual."
