Shillong Lajong FC won their first game in the Shillong – Guwahati Zone Under 16 Youth League against Royal Wahingdoh FC today by 3-2 at Mawlai Ground Shillong...
Royal Wahingdoh who played a goalless draw in their first match however were the first to take the lead in the game. Rheadolf had put them ahead as early as the 9th minute. As the game wore on, Lajong got their first real chance in the match in the 24th minute. Burnes Rai could have levelled the score line but then missed the one on one chance. In the 30th minute of the match, Burnes Rai missed another chance as his shot went over the bar. Then finally in the 45+3 minute, Rony Lalenkima found the back of the net to equalise the score at 1-1. In the second session, Lajong boys were seen making several good moves in front of goal and were the more dominant side in terms of possession. The players were combining well with each other and created many chances at goal. They kept on threatening the Royal Wahingdoh defence and were rewarded for their efforts in the 65th minute with the goal from Lalrohlua to make it 2-1 in favour of Lajong. The Lajong Junior Reds started putting a lot of extra efforts by pushing forward in search of another goal to have the added advantage as they knew a defensive error at any moment could see Wahingdoh level the score line and spoil the fun. The plan eventually worked out for Lajong juniors as their good passing game saw them taking the lead once again. The super talented Samuel Kynshi curled the ball from the edge of the box towards the goal to make it 3-1 in the 69th minute. As the game was approaching to full time, Royal Wahingdoh managed to get back into the game and stunned the Lajong defence. Romen Singh scored in the 86th minute for RWFC from a well worked free kick play. The Wahingdoh side were trying to add some pressure on the Lajong defence but were not strong enough to get past the Lajong backline. The game ended 3-2 and Lajong took home three full points from the game after displaying a good game of football. Lajong juniors will play their next game on the 27th October against Rangdajied United at Mawlai Ground at 2:30pm. [KH_RELATED_NEWS title="Related News"][/KH_RELATED_NEWS]Latest News
