The Uruguayan is one of the world's most in-demand attackers.

Darwin Nunez is touted to become the next football superstar. The striker is one of the hottest prospects in the world at the moment. The Uruguayan is having a sensational season for Portuguese outfit Benfica. He has contributed to 34 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions. This has seen him attract interest from several European heavyweights.

The Uruguayan is expected to leave Benfica in the summer. With multiple clubs interested in his services, the 22-year-old is one of the most in-demand strikers in the world. So, let’s have a look at five clubs that should target Darwin Nunez.

5. Chelsea

The Blues have improved a lot under Thomas Tuchel. But, they have had periods of inconsistency. Chelsea have a star-studded squad. However, they lack real depth in the striking department.

Chelsea bought Romelu Lukaku at the start of the season to fix that. The Belgian had a great start on his return to Stamford Bridge. However, he has fallen out of favour with Tuchel. Injuries have also played a part in his poor form.

With the Belgian striker not at his best, young Darwin Nunez could be a great option. The Uruguayan has shown his ability to score goals, something Chelsea have lacked from their strikers.

4. Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs have long been dependent on Harry Kane for goals. The Englishman has been the North London club’s main goal threat. However, in his absence Tottenham struggle in front of goal.

Son Heung-Min has done a brilliant job so far when Kane has been unavailable. However, not being a natural striker works against him, sometimes. Darwin Nunez can be a solution to this problem.

The 22-year-old has experience playing on the wings. So, he can fit in a front three with Son and Kane. However, in the Englishman’s absence, Nunez can easily lead the line.

3. Bayern Munich

The Bavarians are another club who can benefit from the signing of Darwin Nunez. The Benfica man is a danger in front of goal. He can exploit that while playing for Bayern Munich.

Nunez lacks experience in a top European league. This is why the Bundesliga makes perfect sense for him. The league’s focus on attack and Bayern’s dominance will make the transition easier.

In addition, there are doubts over Robert Lewandowski’s future. The Poland international is expected to leave in the summer. Darwin Nunez can aptly fill the void, if the Pole decides to part ways.

2. Manchester United

The Red Devils are once again having a below-par season. The signings of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer didn’t add much to their team. However, Manchester United could be in need of a new striker come the summer.

Edinson Cavani hasn’t played much this season due to injuries. He is likely to leave the club in the summer. Plus there are doubts over Mason Greenwood’s future. Sancho may need some time to adapt to his new surroundings and Marcus Rashford has struggled for form. This limits the club’s options in the attacking areas.

So, signing Darwin Nunez can strengthen this department. The striker’s ability to play in different systems will also suit the Red Devils. In addition, they are one of the few clubs able to afford his high transfer fee.

1. Arsenal

Mikel Arteta has done well since taking charge of the Gunners. The club are now competing for Champions League qualification. Securing a UCL spot will attract many players to the club. Darwin Nunez can be one of them.

Arsenal need to strengthen their team if they manage to qualify for the Champions League next season. The Gunners are in desperate need of a new striker. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has left the club. Meanwhile, Alexander Lacazette’s future looks uncertain.

Darwin Nunez will be a great addition to the squad. He has the ability to play in a possession-based system. His movement and aerial prowess can add a new dimension to the team. Plus, the 22-year-old is a proven goalscorer, something Arsenal have lacked in recent years.
