The Mumbai boss lauded the mindset of his players after seven points from three straight away games…
After a win against the home team in front of 29000 odd supporters, all cheering and roaring for NorthEast United, the Costa Rican head coach of Mumbai City FC, Alexandre Guimares seemed jubilant when he faced the press at the post match presser here in Guwahati. Mumbai were gifted a goal by a silly mistake by keeper Wellington Lima Gomez, who started in place of the injured Subrata Paul. When Guimares was asked whether he thinks the win was a fluke, the Costa Rican replied, “I think we deserved the win. In the first 15 minutes we had two clear chances. They also had some good chances. Then I think in the second half we took control of the game. We are very happy to have these three points. A win here is not easy I think. My team who made a draw against Chennaiyin and a win here, this combination is very good for us.” Mumbai City goalkeeper Albino Gomes was very impressive throughout the match and made quite a few spectacular saves to deny the home team an equalizer. On this the coach said, “Albino is very good, young and talented. I am happy that I have very good bench strength.” “I think after a long flight from Chennai, it was not easy, but it’s all about the mindset of the players,” he concluded.
