We know we have to win most of the matches - Sanjoy Sen
The Bagan boss is comfortable with the mantle of title contenders...
After an optimistic start to their I-League campaign this season, Mohun Bagan are looking forward to registering another win over their next opponents Shillong Lajong FC on Friday. Mohun Bagan head coach Sanjoy Sen had previously expressed his concerns about playing against Lajong, as he felt they would be formidable opponents to beat. However, the Mariners’ coach also revealed that he knows Bagan have to win the majority of their games in order to clinch the prestigious I-League trophy.
“To win the league we know we have to win most of the matches,” said the Mohun Bagan boss. “We will try to do that,” he further added. Sen was asked if star forward Sony Norde, who reached the city late last night would be featured in the team against Shillong Lajong FC in their next I-League match when he replied, “I will talk to him once he joins the training. I don’t want to talk about my team now.”

The Meghalaya-based team started with eight U-22 players against the defending champions and later included another U-22 player in the second half. While the inexperienced Lajong squad is looking vulnerable on paper, Sen made it clear he is not expecting a cakewalk and is prepared to do everything in his power to steal three points off the Shillong-based club. “We are playing a good team tomorrow,” said Sen to the reporters in the pre-match conference today.
Sony Norde, Mohun Bagan’s star Haitian forward touched down in the city last night. He was greeted by a large number of Mariners fan at the Dum Dum airport. “It’s because of the supporters, I decided to stay here for another season,” said an emotional Norde to the reporters. “They have been waiting for me at this time. How can you neglect their love and passion? It was their love that brought me here to Mohun Bagan,” he further added.
