The Spaniard scored 15 league goals this season
This summer, Alvaro Morata has the option to leave Atletico Madrid for a nominal amount.
According to Relevo, Atletico are pleased with the striker but is aware that he has a buyout clause that might be activated, thus he could leave the team. It’s merely a €12 million release clause.
A departure seems increasingly imminent after Morata acknowledged the supporters during the final home game of the season last weekend and his partner shared a snapshot of the farewell on social media.
Major League Soccer teams as well as Saudi Arabian clubs have already gotten in touch with the forward.
Just three goals have been scored in Morata’s previous 22 games in 2024, despite being Atletico’s top scorer with 21 goals (15 in LaLiga) this season. His place in Simeone’s plans has come under scrutiny due to this decline in recent performance.
Simeone convinced Morata to stay at Atletico when he was on the verge of leaving last summer. But recent occurrences, like being benched and replaced at halftime in the quarterfinal matchup between Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League, have rekindled his desire to move on.

Juventus, where Morata has played in the past and where his partner is from, is reportedly still interested in getting him back to Italy, as reported by Cadena SER. The Italian powerhouses would have to fulfil his €12m million release clause – an amount that they are allegedly prepared to pay.
New era at Atletico Madrid?
Depay’s and maybe Morata’s departures will signal a time of change for Atletico Madrid as they get ready for the summer transfer window. The way these changes play out and which new players are signed on at the Wanda Metropolitano to bolster Simeone’s team for the next campaign will be closely observed by fans.
Major League Soccer and Saudi Arabian teams, such as Al-Shabab, have also reached out to Morata. The suspense about his future has only grown after he has been barely used in the second half of the campaign and an exit looks likely.
