The Dutchman has one year left on his deal
Virgil van Dijk and Liverpool’s next manager Arne Slot are scheduled to have urgent talks regarding the defender’s future. According to reports, Van Dijk is “disappointed” with Jurgen Klopp over his choice to quit Anfield and is considering a transfer from outside.
With just one year left on his deal, the important Liverpool captain is apparently not in a rush to renew. Van Dijk is at a crossroads in his career and hasn’t determined where he wants to conclude it, with the Klopp era coming to a close.
According to reports, Borussia Dortmund is considering a possible trade for the 32-year-old. Over the next few months, clubs in Spain, Italy, Turkey, and the Netherlands aspire to sign the Dutchman.
Van Dijk is reported to have a great deal of drive and desire and to want to stay at the top. Since recovering from a major knee injury in 2021, he has reached a Champions League final, won an FA Cup, and two League Cups.
As the new head coach plans Liverpool’s future, Slot is eager to hang onto the seasoned centre defender. The Mirror claims that the Dutch tactician is arranging “urgent” talks with Van Dijk on his potential position for the upcoming season.

Liverpool and Feyenoord, a Dutch team, have agreed to a £9.4 million agreement to entice Slot. Over the next few months, the relocation is anticipated to be completed.
The 44-year-old is probably going to want as much continuity as possible over a very eventful summer. It might be vital to persuade Van Dijk to stay, particularly if Liverpool sells Mohamed Salah during the summer season.
In the upcoming months, Saudi Arabian clubs are expected to show renewed interest in Salah. Similar to Van Dijk, the Egyptian’s contract expires in just a year, and the Reds’ negotiation leverage will be diminished compared to the previous year when they rejected record offers for the winger.
Liverpool’s chances of earning a final Premier League title under the German coach were all but ended after Salah and Klopp got into a weird altercation during the team’s 2-2 draw with West Ham.
