The Super Eagles are without a win so far in Group C.

Benin currently are third in Group C of the 2026 FIFA World Cup African Qualifiers after collecting four points in their opening three games. The team secured an impressive result in the last match defeating Rwanda to secure their first win. Gernot Rohr’s men have done a good job so far, but their next matches against Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe will be tough.

Nigeria are languishing in the fifth position in the table and have endured a difficult campaign so far. Though they are unbeaten in three matches, they have not won any. The Super Eagles secured draws over South Africa, Zimbabwe and Lesotho so far. With time running out for them, they cannot afford any more slip-ups as the next few matches will be must-win for them to qualify.

Mickael Pote has been Benin’s leading scorer in this qualifying campaign. He has netted two goals in three matches and will hope to play a crucial role here. Pote currently plays club football for Bandirmaspor in Turkey.

At 39 years old, he is already the oldest outfield player in the qualifying group and is showing no signs of stopping. So far he has made 30 appearances for the national team since debuting in 2008.

Victor Boniface (Nigeria)

The Bayer Leverkusen man will aim to make the most of his chances in this game given that he had an impressive campaign at club level. He netted 14 goals in 23 matches for the team while adding another eight assists.

After making his debut for the national team in September, he has made five appearances but is yet to score. Boniface will be looking to score his first goal for the team in this match.
